Snow White (1995 film)

Originally released directly to video in 1995, Snow White is a 46-minute animated film based on the classic story, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs by the Brothers Grimm. The movie was produced by Jetlag Productions and was distributed to DVD in 2002 by GoodTimes Entertainment as part of their "Collectible Classics" line.

Story

The film tells the familiar, classic Brothers Grimm tale of Snow White. Once upon a time in a faraway kingdom there lived a happy king with his queen. They were the joy of the kingdom and their love brought happiness to all of the land and all of its people. They had a beautiful daughter, whose skin was white as snow and because of that was named "Snow White". Shortly after her birth however, the queen died and soon the king married again to a selfish and vain woman who only cared about making herself as beautiful as she could. When the king died fighting in a war, the new queen did not shed a tear and used the opportunity to tax the people heavily in order to buy new beauty potions for herself. She had a great deal of mirrors in which to see her beautiful face but her favorite one was a magic mirror that always spoke the absolute truth. Whenever the vain queen asked the mirror who the fairest woman in the land was, she always expected to be told that it was she. One day however, the queen was shocked to hear a new answer, that Snow White, now all grown up, was the fairest woman the kingdom had ever seen. Angered by this, the new queen sends for her royal huntsman and orders him to murder Snow White so that she can again be the most beautiful. Once outside, the huntsman cannot bring himself to harm the princess, so she asks her to run deep into the woods and never return. Snow White, obeys frightened and runs through the scary woods until she finds a small little cottage in the midst of the forest. Tired by the shock and after such a long run, Snow White decides to enter the cottage, have something to eat and take some rest on the small beds. Shortly after Snow White falls asleep, the owners of the cottage, seven little dwarfs appear and are surprised by their visitor. After much begging, Snow White convinces the seven of them to allow her to stay in their cottage. Unfortunately, the vain queen soon learns about the huntsman betrayal and that Snow White still lives, so she decides to take it upon herself to kill the princess. The queen went to the dwarfs cottage disguised as someone else to kill Snow White. The first time she went as an old beggar woman and tied laces around Snow White's neck which made her unable to breathe. However, the Dwarfs came home and untied the laces which saved Snow White's life. The second time the queen went disguised as old man and put a poison comb in Snow White's hair, but the Dwarfs came to Snow White's rescue once again. The third time the queen was disguised as a little girl selling apples. She offered Snow White half of the poison apple and when Snow White ate it she once again fell into a deadly sleep. The dwarfs were unable to save Snow White this time and placed her in a glass coffin. A handsome prince, who met Snow White before, finds the coffin and asks the dwarfs if Snow White could be taken to his palace since he had fallen in love with her. When his servants lift Snow White out of the coffin a piece of the apple fell out of Snow White's mouth and she awakens. When the queen once again asks who is the fairest in the land and finds out that it is Snow White she smashes it and is sucked inside of it forever. The prince and Snow White then get married and live happily ever after.
